Time (And Money) Well Spent

At Lives Changed by Christ (LCBC) Church in Millersville, Pa., discipleship is a strong part of the youth ministry. Chad Herman, student ministries director, says building relationships and spiritually encouraging one another within a camp setting is a “relational microwave.”

“[Camp] provides this huge chunk of time with students. We don’t get that time on a weekend,” Cara Sahd, student events coordinator, says. “One of the biggest blessings of camp is really just discipling our students.”

As students take time to look at their habits, routines and relationships, youth workers can help them see areas to grow and, in turn, challenge them to live better lives. It’s an opportunity youth pastors can’t pass up. That’s why raising funds for camp is a no-brainer.

“Ultimately, you put your money with what’s important—and life change is incredibly important to us,” Herman says. “We want to pull out all the stops for students to experience the life change of Jesus Christ.”

The prime location for that to happen is at camp. “We know God has done some incredible things at these camps, “ Herman says. “Camps provide us an opportunity to allow God to speak, so that’s more than enough reason to warrant funds toward camp.”
