Camp Is for Everyone, Not Just for Kids

Summer camps nationwide are enriching their programs; offering more than just a week away for kids at camp. Growing numbers of camps are open year-round, providing programs for the entire family. Snowbird Conferences in North Carolina says their adult training weekends are just as important as their youth camps; and are designed to impact today’s adults. “We believe the Bible instructs that impact to come from the local church. What better way to help fulfill that mandate than to come alongside the Church to equip its men and women to be better ministry leaders, husbands, wives, parents and, ultimately, Christ-followers?”

Colorado’s Bear Trap Ranch Family Camp is designed as a time to let moms, dads and kids step out of their routine and be nourished spiritually as an entire family. Bear Trap’s vision is to create space and time apart for everybody in the household, providing them a chance to draw closer together as they seek the Lord. “Our Family Camp offers worship, Scripture teaching, children’s program, rest, family games activities and service projects,” says Bear Trap. “It’s a great place to invite seekers to see what life in Christ can be like. And it’s a great family vacation! Please join us this summer, and invite another family to join you.”

What if you’re not parents, or want a chance to get away without the kids? Cloud 9 at California’s JH Ranch invites couples to set apart a week to establish firm foundations for a successful marriage. “If you are a couple that would like to take your marriage to the next level,” writes the staff, “or just slow down for a week and refocus on each other, you will benefit from the design of the Husband & Wife program.”

In addition, you’ll find camps on www.ThePowerofCamp.com who offer grandparents’ camp, retreats for men or for women, as well as mother-daughter retreats and father-son getaways.

That’s the power of camp these days. There’s something for everybody.
